SICOMP is a brand name of the Siemens AG for one of their developed computer family.

SICOMP R and M is used for Automation in Basic Industry

SICOMP R and M

Teleperm M, a worldwide used system is based on this computer family to the process automation. The first operation taken place approx. 1985 on the hardware based SICOMP R computer.
In the meantime, for SICOMP R and SICOMP M computer there is a porting on a PC-based platform under the emulator SICOMP M2000.

The development of the operating and observation system is listed here:

OS252: Is based on SICOMP R (2004 approx. 50 arrangements in operation, 2 operating channels
OS262-2: Is based on SICOMP M20, 2 operating channels
OS262-3: Is based on SICOMP M25, 3 operating channels
OS262-3P: Builds up on SICOMP M26, the first system with 4 Mb memory (before there was only 2 Mb)
OS265-3: Is based on SICOMP M26. This advancement has new functions, the memory was increased on 8 Mb and 3 operating channels own the "Window technology"

Today furthermore industrial microcomputers SICOMP, as a PC-system platform for automation tasks become used. Advantages are the modularity, compactness, the construction appropriate for industry in 19 " technologies, robustness and quick central process interfaces in addition to field connection.
